The game is set almost entirely within the 3D Battle Arenas, which are built after notable locations in the Dragon Ball universe, accessed from the main hub, Toki-Toki City. Fighters can cross free-roam levels at large locations and fight on-air and underwater land.
Most of the main characters in the game are dialogues spoken in battle, and the characters show facial expressions when they attack or take on an opponent. Although limited, players have some freedom to explore planet Earth as it includes other locations present in the Dragon Ball universe, as well as the predecessor Toki-Toki City.
Battles are set in full 3D destructive environments. Fighters can cross the level of free-roaming in very large locations and fight on a platform, go into the air, and fight underwater. They run on land, and swim underwater.
Fights are negotiated during fights, and fighters show facial expressions when they attack or take on an opponent. In addition to the occasional meter, there is a green endurance meter that can be used to immediately disappear behind an opponent.
